Bike repair stand fit checker—eliminate the wrong stand before chasing “best”
A load rating does not tell you where the bicycle may be clamped, whether you can lift it, how much floor the tripod consumes, or whether a high-force job belongs in a portable stand. Build those records first; compare features second.
A focused decision path for this exact job. Verify fit and safety details against the current maker instructions.

Build a Repair Stand Fit check
The check eliminates stands whose published records do not fit the bike, support surface, loading method, floor, or job. A surviving record is not a “best” verdict: stability, clamp feel, durability, and real workshop use remain untested by this site.

Answer all five gates
The result will show published specification matches, maximum-only holds, and every unresolved loading or task boundary.
Specification ledger
The table exposes source conflicts instead of silently choosing whichever number sells the product.
Six current candidates; three exact-range records, three deliberate holds
These are official and merchant records, not site measurements. A price or capacity match cannot establish stability, clamp feel, durability, finish protection, loading effort, or value.
| Candidate | Observed price | Load record | Clamp record | Working height | Open base | Folded / stand weight | Data status |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Park Tool PCS-9.3 | $219.95 | 80 lb maximum | 22–76 mm; 70 mm jaw height | 39–57 in | 36 × 36 × 48 in triangle | 42.5 × 14.25 × 10.25 in; 16 lb | Clear official record |
| Park Tool PCS-10.3 | $279.95 | 80 lb maximum | 22–76 mm; 70 mm jaw height | 39–57 in | 36 × 36 × 48 in triangle | 43 × 14 × 10.25 in; 16 lb | Clear official record |
| Feedback Pro Mechanic HD | $525 | Optimized to 70 lb; 100 lb maximum | Up to 66 mm | 42–67 in | 55.5 in stance diameter | 6.8 × 8.6 × 45.4 in; 16.8 lb | Maximum opening only—exact diameter held |
| Topeak PrepStand Pro | Merchant route unqualified | 55 lb maximum | 19–45 mm | 42–70 in | 53.1 in diameter | 46 × 7 in; 13.67 lb | Clear official record |
| Feedback Sport Mechanic 2.0 | $250 | 85 lb maximum; “optimized” 35 and 45 lb both appear | 3 in opening, but one spec line says 1.9 in round tube | 41–66 in | 54 in diameter | 5 × 6.5 × 45 in; 12.4 lb | Record conflict—held from auto-match |
| Feedback Pro Mechanic | $425 | Current official page says 85 lb; Jenson says 75 lb | Up to 66 mm | 41.5–67 in | 46 in equilateral triangle | 5 × 8 × 45 in; 12.2 lb | Merchant/maker conflict—held from auto-match |
The load-rating trap
Maximum supported mass, normal working range, lifting method, and side load are four different records.
The heaviest rated stand can still be the wrong purchase
Capacity
Park requires the weight centered over the legs. Feedback’s HD maximum assumes level ground, the jaw over a tripod leg, and the bicycle’s center of gravity below the clamp. Those conditions belong beside the number.
Support
A 76 mm jaw opening does not grant permission to clamp a frame, carbon part, dropper stanchion, D-shaped post, dirty surface, short seat mast, cable route, or damaged tube.
Lift
A manual stand normally starts around 39–42 inches at the clamp. A 70 lb bicycle may fit a published load record while remaining unsafe or unrealistic for one person to load.
Task
Removing a wheel shifts balance. High torque, seized parts, impacts, long leverage, and force perpendicular to the stand can need wheels on the ground, a fixed support, or a qualified shop.
Sources and boundary
A buying filter—not a hands-on repair-stand review
This site did not own, assemble, load, clamp, fold, transport, torque against, or durability-test these stands. It did not inspect the visitor’s bicycle or authorize a support surface. The passport only compares current published records and deliberately holds conflicting data.
